Two people have died as a result of the shooting that occurred at Cazzy’s Corner Grill on Sunday morning. Knoxville Police say 50-year-old Rob Goebel succumbed to his injuries at the UT Medical Center, as life-sustaining efforts proved unsuccessful.
KPD officers responded to reports of a shooting at Cazzy’s on Thunderhead Road around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2021, . Upon arrival, officers located two victims, both employees of Cazzy’s, that had been shot. One victim, identified as 26-year-old Alexis Clayton, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A possible suspect was identified and efforts were immediately launched to locate the suspect. He is identified as 27-year-old Christopher Robert MacGuire, a former employee of Cazzy’s, entered the business and shot the two victims following an altercation. MacGuire then fled the scene in a tan Nissan Altima. At around 11:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Target on Town Center Boulevard, where an individual identified as MacGuire was found in a tan Nissan Altima deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Further investigative efforts revealed that MacGuire was responsible for the shooting that took place at Cazzy’s.
The Criminal Investigation Division is continuing its investigation into the shooting. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
