The Maker City announces its fourth annual Holiday Gift Guide and Holiday Monday Marketplace.
It started the first year of the coronavirus pandemic as a way to give shoppers easy access to unique, locally-made gifts. The online tradition has continued as a fun way to put Knoxville’s makers and their handcrafted wares right at the fingertips of holiday shoppers.
The Maker City Holiday Gift Guide is a curated collection from the over 400 artisans and makers of The Maker City Directory. Categories include Dwell, Custom Experience, Eat & Drink, Eye Candy, Cozy, Nature, Animal Lover, Stocking Stuffers, the Littles, and Where to Shop Locally.
The Maker City Holiday Monday Marketplace is an interactive weekly online auction, with shoppers bidding over a 12-hour period for a chosen item. Those who like a little friendly competition will find it here, and 100% of the winning bid goes to the maker.
Each Monday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., five+ items chosen from over 50 area makers will be featured, including stained glass artwork from The Glass Mavens; ceramics from Scottielynne Pottery and Treehouse Pottery; jewelry from Lucky Girl Eleven and candles from Nest; Canary Wood & Walnut endgrain cutting board from Headtilts Boardworks. Girls Gotta Eat Good and Amy Treats have delicious baked goods, and photographer Cassie Leigh Photography will fulfill a one-hour portrait session. Many other sellers will be showcased, and sharp-eyed bidders can come away with truly unique gifts for their loved ones.
Both the Guide and Marketplace will feature festive, lively illustrations by local artist Nkem Warner, For Tha Masses Design. They’ll be up and running Nov. 1.
