Aug 4 (Reuters) – The 2025 Eaton Fire in Los Angeles was caused by Southern California Edison equipment, local media including ABC News reported on Tuesday, citing a Los Angeles County Fire Department report.
Southern California Edison (SCE), a unit of utility Edison International, believes that it is likely that its equipment was associated with the ignition of the Eaton Fire, said SCE spokesperson David Eisenhauer.
“We received the LA County Fire Report and are reviewing it,” he added.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In January 2025, Eaton Fire scorched more than 14,000 acres (57 square km) east of Los Angeles before it was contained.
