Sep 02 (Field Level Media) – The New Jersey Devils have landed forward Luke Evangelista from the Nashville Predators in exchange for draft capital, the team announced Tuesday.
Nashville will receive New Jersey’s second-round pick in 2028 and a first- round pick via the Colorado Avalanche, conditional upon the latter pick not transferring to the Toronto Maple Leafs or the pick falling in the top 10.
In return, New Jersey is getting a 24-year-old fresh off his first 50-point season. In his fourth NHL season, Evangelista set career highs in games (81), assists (44) and points (56) while recording 12 goals.
Evangelista was fourth on the team in scoring, second in assists and second in assists on power-play goals (16).
After being selected by the Predators in the second round of the 2020 draft, Evangelista totaled 45 goals and 97 assists for 142 points over 253 games.
He is entering the final year of a two-year contract worth $3 million.
