Charlie Woods won the Team TaylorMade Invitational last year, but the son of Tiger Woods is tied for 23rd after a 3-over 73 in the second round Saturday in Belleair, Fla.
Woods, 17, a senior at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Fla., began his round on hole No. 10 and offset a pair of bogeys with a pair of birdies on the opening nine holes to shoot even par.
On hole No. 1, Woods ran into trouble with a triple bogey and followed that with a bogey on No. 2. He bounced back after that, sinking a birdie on No. 7.
Woods won last year’s event at Streamsong Resort’s Black course, after shooting 15-under to beat some of the nation’s top junior golfers, including Miles Russell.
After that win, Woods made a massive leap in the AJGA rankings and is ranked No. 13 overall.
